Seeing Snowdonia from the Peak District

On a very clear day it is possible to see Snowdonia from hills in the Peak District National Park. The computer generated panoramas on Jonathan de Ferranti's Viewfinder Panoramas pages show mountains in Snowdonia as being visible from Kinder Scout, from which Snowdon is 94 miles away and Carnedd Llywelyn 88 miles away, and also from Bleaklow, Black Hill, Shining Tor, the Roaches and The Cloud.

I took the photo above from Kinder Scout on 12 May 2019. Manchester Airport is prominently visible, and Moel Famau in Flintshire can be made out on the left of the picture. Close inspection of the photo shows that several Snowdonian mountains are very faintly visible behind them. The version below of the photo has been edited in GIMP to enhance the contrast with the sky and with the closer mountains; comparison with the de Ferranti panorama confirms that Snowdon, Glyder Fach, Tryfan, Y Garn and the Carneddau are visible.
